2020 Fall Study Groups

Tools for Understanding the Bible              Sunday at 5:30 by Zoom

October 4th –   November 1st                       Led by Linda Sutton,

Difficult bits of scripture take on deeper meaning when we leave behind the lens we use to view our current world and learn to use a new lens that will help us look through the eyes of the New Testament writers.  Linda Sutton will provide a short lesson each session, followed by time to look at a selection of scripture through a new lens of understanding.

Daring Greatly by Brene Brown                    Monday at 11 AM in Fellowship Hall (zoom is also an option)

October 5th  –  November 16th                    Led by Pastor Sherry,, & Debby Schwarz

The tables are arranged so that we can Social distance as we gather. We will read one chapter each week and will have discussion questions to guide our conversation. Brene writes in a wonderfully easy-to-read style, and at the same time is thoughtful and inspiring. The group would read one chapter a week and gather each week, with a facilitator, to discuss the chapter.

Social Justice Conversation                                    Monday at 6:30 PM by zoom

Begins October 12th   –   November 23rd             Led by Neal Heckman,

When Jesus spoke of the Kingdom of God, he was speaking of the world as it should be.  As Christians, what is God calling us to do to close the gap between the world as it is and the world as it should be? How can we address injustices and build bridges of healing in our city so that Kansas City looks more like the Kingdom of God? How can we, for example, help break the cycle of poverty for children in Kansas City, giving each child the possibility of attaining a future with hope and real equality
